My residence is Pozo Izquierdo. So I know what a real storm looks like. But my roots are in Norway. So please vote me in and maybe I can take my brother Vidar and go far a real big brother session in my home country.
Personal Comment
After watching the forecast for some time we decided to do the Storm Chase for
Norway monday Nov. 6th.
I arrived early sunday morning to Stavanger were my friend Geir was waiting
with his van.
Equipment was ready so we went straight on the search for the perfect
spot. Forecast was Northwest wind 30 knots and up to 5 meter waves, it looked
good. I knew we would score, I saw the wind and the waves flying into Sola
airport.
We started driving south which has the best condition on northwest wind, We
knew Kvassheim would have the best condition and we were right. A good day of
sailing before the day X. Sailing powered up 4 meter sail and mast high
waves a perfect warm up for tomorrow.
The day X is here and we meet up with the camera team before dawn. The
forecast was even better then yesterday and we were driving down to Kvassheim.
Arriving the beach the condition looked good, the good daylight was still
not out and we used the time to prepare the equipment and get in the
wetsuit. Hansi and me together with the camera team were ready to rock around
9บบ in the morning.
Sail and the small board was prepared and we went into the storm.
It started up as a really good day of sailing, some very strong gusts came
through and some serious sets of waves rolled in.
We sailed for a couple of hours picking up one wave after the other before
Hansi got washed and broke the mast extension so it was time for a break.
I got some food and tried to get warm inside the car.
Second session was even better. Waves and wind were all the time picking up.
After another couple of hours of sailing we decided to continue the search
and find another spot.
We drove north to Sola and got some more sailing. Here we sailed to the
nightfall and it was too dark to sail.
So all in all I got one of the best conditions I sailed in a long time. It was
the perfect search.
