Week 2 of the Waiting Period
The second week of the Red Bull Storm Chase waiting period (Aug 1 till Nov 30) has passed.
After a tense start during the first week of the waiting period, all 7 selected destinations remained at the (lowest) warning level "Guarded" over the last week. Nevertheless quite a lot has happened, and the upcoming week 3 of the waiting period looks even more promising.

What's on Tap for Week 3
This week already started with quite some excitement, as the warning level for Tasmania has been raised to "Elevated" this morning!
It seems there are two systems forming and moving towards Tasmania. Local advisor John Pott sees a chance for force 10+ Bft (100+ km/h / 60+ mph) winds somewhen between 23rd and 28th of August. A first timing has been drafted, which would already see competitors and crew go onto their journey this coming Sunday. Finger's crossed for the long-term forecast to hold.
Should the chances for suitable conditions become more likely (as in, confirmed by a more dependable short-term forecast), the warning level will be set to "Severe" for the first time. Then, with a little bit of luck, the first Red Bull Storm Chase mission might be around the corner...
